Revisiting Musical Memories, June 3, 2025

When my parents retired to Savannah, Georgia, I found the drooping Spanish moss and the whole atmosphere haunting and mysterious. That’s how the first 4 or 5 minutes (of 13, total) of this piece sound, but then, like Savannah, the music becomes full of romantic melody with some kind of Southern endearment. This exquisite performance is by the Atlantic Ensemble, who performed it in Paris and on my Billboard No. 1 classical album called “The Sea Knows”.
