London Symphony Orchestra Commissioning Project

In cooperation with Parma Recordings (who released Kurek’s 2017 Billboard-topping “The Sea Knows”), American composer Michael Kurek is now fundraising for a new Kurek album featuring the internationally acclaimed London Symphony Orchestra, to be recorded at Abbey Road Studios in the summer of 2020. In addition to the LSO playing Kurek’s 40-45 minute, four-movement Symphony No. 2: Tales from the Realm of Faerie, the album will also contain some of his beautiful new choral music (already professionally recorded and waiting).  Movements 1 and 2 of the symphony are done; movements 3 and 4 are being composed during fall 2019 and spring 2020. To hear a mock-up of the first two movements of the symphony, click HERE or on the “Bonus Video” link above.

Many people are unaware of the enormous cost of recording a 92-piece full symphony orchestra plus conductor and studio engineers. All classical recordings with orchestra are actually funded by philanthropy.  To meet the total cost of around $110,000, we are giving major donors the opportunity to memorialize a loved one or to promote their company by actually commissioning the music that will be on the album. Please read pdf files of Michael Kurek’s personal description and appeal (then use your back button to return to this page) here: Donor Letter by MK and Parma’s prospectus with budget here: PARMA Project Proposal. At this time we are asking only for pledges, using the Kurek KickStarter Page. Please notify Michael personally and directly HERE with any questions you may have.
